Maude,, I love the Birthday Gifts you are giving yourself spending time with dear friends over this birthday years....treasures in each visit to last another birthday and beyond.... keep on movin' on .....
Phil, I enjoyed your insight about language in relationships and the how it plays out... always inspiring and a reminder how we use our language and listen to others. Mahalo hgs to you both.
Hello Maude and Phil, as usual, I found this exchange to be insightful and frustratingly significant to my own personal dilemma. I've written to you about this particular relationship before. I don't know where to turn or how to communicate when language itself has broken down; when phonetic and written language has been superseded by nuance, inflection, facial expression and gesture which all speak a deeper truth than whatever "appropriate" words are spoken.
Hi Kelly. It seems to me that the other person is indeed communicating, but only nonverbally. I guess we need to hear the messages in both modes. Perhaps the best way to approach this conversation is to observe your nonverbal responses and note the words they evoke for you. Phil
Thank you Marie for the restack. We really appreciate it. Maude
